Dear Parents and Families,

Nawton School has a strategic plan which is regularly reviewed by the Board of Trustees and Staff. The Board of Trustees  focus on achievement of strategic plan goals and objectives and monthly reports review progress towards strategic and annual goals displayed on the Board of Trustees Noticeboard in the School Office foyer. 

In 2010 and at the beginning of this year the Board of Trustees and principal consulted the community and spent time with the staff looking at the Strategic Plan with a focus on the school’s ongoing goals and vision statement. This work has culminated in the 2011-2013 Strategic Plan.

At the end of 2010 and in the early part of 2011 parents were surveyed to receive community feedback on our school vision and key priorities. Staff have participated in a meetings and professional reflection and dialogue about strategic goals. This feedback highlighted educating the whole child, inclusive and empowering education, literacy, numeracy, ICT, achievement of M?ori and Pacifika, school values, inquiry skills and independence as something to be specifically considered when the Board and Staff start planning in 2010 for our next Strategic goals to cover 2011-2013.

This year we have prepared a summary report with information about the specific strategic development goals for 2011 which the Board and Staff trust you will find useful and informative. At the end of the year we will review our achievement of these goals and report back to you on progress.

Further copies of the Board Chair and Principal report as well as more detailed
information about student achievement provided to the Ministry of Education are
available from the school office on request. A reminder also that the confirmed
Education Review Office Report for 2008 can be found on the ERO website www.ero.govt.nz.
