Rumaki
Nawton School provides a quality Maori immersion programme. Rumaki is for the graduates of Te Kohanga Reo and those for whom Maori is a first language. Prior competency in Maori language is preferred but in not essential. In our Rumaki classes 81-100% of instruction is given in Maori and all curriculum areas are covered in Te Reo Maori. In the student’s final year of immersion, we run a English transition programme to ensure that upon graduation, our students are also able to read and write in English.
